History of Christian Doctrine (BC-404)

Trace the unfolding of Christian thought across the centuries. Discover how the church's understanding of foundational doctrines was clarified, defended, and preserved from the days of the early apostles to the modern era.

About This Course

This is a comprehensive, in-depth, academically serious, historically ordered, and pastorally applied course. It is designed to show how the church's understanding and clarity of Christian doctrine developed from the birth of the New Testament church to the present day. The ultimate goal is to equip students to confess, teach, and guard the faith with Scripture as the final authority, while maintaining an informed respect for the labors of those who went before us.

"Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints." — Jude 1:3

Unlike standard Reformation-centered surveys that often treat recent movements only briefly, this course gives extended attention to Evangelical, Pentecostal, Continuationist, Spirit-filled, and Charismatic developments. You will gain particular competence in understanding the theological frameworks that shape today's Spirit-filled movements.
