About This Course

This is a comprehensive, in-depth, academically serious, historically ordered, literarily attentive, and pastorally applied course. It is designed to give students a wide, structured overview of significant Christian literature spanning from the early church era (approx. AD 100) to the modern day. You will learn to navigate the rich heritage of Christian thought left behind by faithful men and women throughout the centuries.

"One generation shall praise Your works to another, And shall declare Your mighty acts." — Psalm 145:4

With Scripture serving as the final authority and aligned with Protestant theology, the curriculum will train you to name principal writers, date their lives and work, and summarize landmark books. More importantly, it explains how those writings have deeply shaped the Church's doctrine, devotion, worship, mission, and imagination. After tracing the timeline of Christian thought, the course returns to explore literary genres, theological discernment, and how to effectively use these classics in contemporary pastoral ministry.
