Book Study: Psalms (BC-409)
The Book of Psalms is the hymnbook and prayer manual of the Bible. It is a profound collection of poetry and song that expresses the full spectrum of human emotion while anchoring the soul in deep theological truths about God.
About This Course
This course provides an in-depth study through the Book of Psalms. We will explore the structure, historical context, and rich poetic language that makeup this central book of the Old Testament. As we navigate its chapters, students will discover how the Psalms served as the liturgical backbone of ancient Israel's worship and how they profoundly shaped the prayer life of Jesus and the early church.
We will study the different genres found within the Psalter—such as psalms of lament, thanksgiving, praise, royal psalms, and wisdom psalms. More importantly, we will learn how to use the Psalms today to enrich our own personal devotion, enhance corporate worship, and provide comfort and pastoral care to those navigating the complexities of human suffering and joy.
